Hi! My name is Atticus. I was born in 1993. I’m a chestnut appaloosa gelding (male). That’s right I’m an appaloosa!!! Who would have guessed. I am 14.2 hands (4’ 10”) tall. I’m really a pony unless I stretch real tall when I’m measured. At my age I’m one the 2 oldest horses on the Hope Rising Farm Therapeutic team, but I am most definitely the herd leader. Since I’m so experienced, not to mention friendly, gentle and full of personality, I’m often the first horse our new clients get to work with and love.
My original owner used to do barrel racing (western) and hunters (english) with me. I was then purchased by a loving family and turned out to be everything that a little girl could ask for and dream of when owning a pony. She rode me everywhere and we were inseparable best friends. Sadly the family got divorced and the little girl outgrew me. I came to hope rising farm with the hope to be a therapeutic riding horse because I’m small and I have a wonderful personality, that everyone who meets me falls in love with me. I am truly a horse that knows my job with our clients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities from the time they arrive here to work with me. I am one of the first go to equines when we introduce any of our clients that have never been around horses before.
I LOVE MY JOB!!!
