Kathleen Visconti aka Kitty was born, raised and now lives in Sharon, Connecticut.
The love she has for horses began when she was a toddler. Her very first memory of riding a horse was when her dad brought her to Paley’s farm. She was placed on the back of a paint and instructed to hang on to his mane. She was so excited! Her first ride and it was bareback. The ride wasn’t nearly long enough for her.
At the age of thirteen her parents brought home this wonderful Welsh pony. In a very short time, he became her best friend. Kathleen's family added a few horses to their little backyard herd which kept her involved until graduation of high school.
As her children became young adults and she was facing a very empty nest, her husband thought it would be a good idea for her to get back into the world of horses. Here She is today with a variety of breeds, from a Miniature horse to a Belgian cross.
Having grown up with a developmentally disabled sibling, Kathleen is aware of how rewarding it is for a child with challenges to be able to overcome their limitations and achieve activities they thought to be beyond their reach.
A deep desire to be a part of a therapy program has been one of her personal goals. The feeling one gets when a human is empowered from an equine experience makes their heart fill with happiness. Kathleen has worked with several non-profit organizations but none as exciting as Jackie Wikane’s mission to obtain her vision for Hope Rising Farm.
